Airam Hernández

Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor)

Airam Hernández was a French horn player for many years before studying singing in Barcelona under Dolors Aldea. As an opera singer, he has performed at venues such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Zurich Opera, the Dutch national Opera, the Opéra national de Lorraine and the Liceu in Barcelona, under the direction of conductors like Marco Armiliato, Carlo Rizzi, Nello Santi, Fabio Luisi and in productions by Barrie Kosky, Laurent Pelly, Hans Neuenfels, David Pountney and Damiano Michieletto.

In 2016 he debuted as Alfredo in La Traviata, conducted by Teodor Currentzis and directed by Robert Wilson at the Perm Opera.

Current projects: his debuts at the Dallas Opera, the Grand Théâtre in Luxemburg, the Oper Köln and the Semperoper in Dresden; he will play the role of Belmonte for the first time in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the title role in Faust at the Tenerife Opera, and in 2019, Fenton in Falstaff, Fernando in the zarzuela Doña Francisquita, and Idamante in Idomeneo.
