I Barocchisti

L’ART DES CASTRATS CHEZ VIVALDI

A reference ensemble in playing the baroque repertoire on period instruments, I Barocchisti draws from the legacy of the Società Cameristica di Lugano, founded by Edwin Loehrer in the 1950s to rediscover and collect vocal and instrumental repertoire pieces. The ensemble performs in formations of 4 to 40 musicians, who are all Swiss and European virtuosi with solid cultural know-how and internationally-acclaimed experience as soloists.

In recent years, under the direction of their founder, Diego Fasolis, and in partnership with the RSI Choir, the orchestra has performed numerous concerts and recorded tributes to Bach, Cavalli, Galuppi, Gossec, Haendel, Mozart, Scarlatti, Paisiello, Pergolesi, Piccinni, Purcell and Vivaldi. The orchestra has also performed in televised programs on RTS, Euroarts and Arte, as well as in the most prestigious festivals in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.
