Mary-Ellen Nesi

Mary-Ellen Nesi studied singing with Misa Ikeuchi, Frangiskos Voutsinos and Kostas Pascalis in Athens, and with Arrigo Pola in Modena. She has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Covent Garden, the théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Theater an der Wien, the Opéra National du Rhin, Carnegie Hall, the Semperoper in Dresden, and in Asia, Spain, Italy and Greece.

She has appeared in many festivals and founded the Opera Festival of Ancient Corinth, of which she was the artistic director between 2003 and 2009.

Her main focus lies in the baroque, classical and belcanto repertoires. She has performed over 35 main roles in operas ranging from Monteverdi to Massenet. She has recorded many of these operas with Echo Klassik, Virgin and Sony, directed by George Petrou, Alan Curtis, Diego Fasolis, Peter Kopp, Federico Maria Sardelli and Teodro Currentzis.
