Régis Mengus

Hamlet (Hamlet)

After his first steps at the Opéra de Metz, Régis Mengus was invited by many French opera houses to perform Moralès in Carmen, directed by Jean-François Sivadier, Florestan in Véronique and Yamadori in Madama Butterfly. He was the winner of the Vivonne International Competition in 2013 and won three awards at the Bordeaux International Competition in 2014.

More recently, he has taken on some of the most difficult roles in the baritone repertoire, including Escamillo in Carmen, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Ourias in Gounod's Mireille and his critically acclaimed performance of Marcello in La bohème at the Opéra de Reims. He was Karnak in Le Roi d’Ys at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at the Opéra de Reims, Danilo in Die lustige Witwe, Edwin in Princesse Czardas at the Théâtre de l’Odéon in Marseille, and Valentin in Faust at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne.

At the Opéra de Lausanne: Prince Danilo in La veuve joyeuse (2014), the husband in Les mamelles de Tirésias (2016) and Valentin in Faust (2016).
