Valentina Nafornita

Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte)

Valentina Nafornita studied at the Stefan Neaga Music College in Chisinau and at the Bucharest Conservatory of Music. She is the winner of the Young Opera Singers of Europe competition, the Romanian Orange Prize for Young Musicians and the Hariclea Darclée Voice Contest. Not only did she win first prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in 2011, but she also received the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Award. She has performed at la Scala in Milan, in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, at the Berlin and Munich operas, and in China. From 2011 to 2016, she was an ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper.

More recently, she performed in Düsseldorf at the AIDS-Gala, at the Hamburg Opera in L’elisir d’amore and the Opéra Bastille in La veuve joyeuse and La clemenza di Tito.

Current projects: the roles of Zerlina, Adina, Susanna, Musetta and Norina in Vienna, and her debut at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma as Musetta.
