Jesús López Cobos

Conductor of Lucia di Lammermoor

Throughout the course of his career, Jesús López Cobos was the music director of the Teatro Real in Madrid from 2003 to 2010, and of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra from 1986 to 2001, where he maintains the title of Conductor Emeritus. After 15 years under his direction, many tours and a wide selection of recordings with Telarc, this orchestra boasts an international reputation. Jesús López Cobos also served as the general music director of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin from 1981 to 1990 and as music director of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra from 1991 to 2000.

He is regularly invited to the world's greatest opera houses and recently conducted Falstaff at the Verbier Festival, Guillaume Tell at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Nabucco, Don Pasquale and Un ballo in maschera at the Vienna Staatsoper, Lucia di Lammermoor at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Werther at the Rome Opera, La Cenerentola at the San Francisco Opera and La Gioconda at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.

Current projects: Un ballo in maschera at the Rome and Vienna operas.

His work at the Opéra de Lausanne includes: Così fan tutte (1993), Falstaff (1995), Don Giovanni (1996), Ariadne auf Naxos (1998), L’elisir d’amore (2012), Manon (2014).
