David Hermann

Director of Ariadne auf Naxos

David Hermann studied at the Hochschule fur Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin and won first prize at the international competition for stage direction and design in Graz in 2000. His work includes Das Rheingold at the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, L’affaire Makropoulos by Janacek, Das Mädchen mit dem Schwefelhölzern by Lachenmann and Oresteia by Xenakis at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.

More recently, he directed a trilogy by Ernst Krenek and De la maison des morts at the Frankfurt Opera, Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Zurich Opera, Die Zauberflöte and Simon Boccanegra for the Vlaamse Opera.

Current projects: Simon Boccanegra, Das Rheingold, Rigoletto, L’Italiana in Algeri and La Traviata.
