Stefano Poda

Director, set, costume, lighting designer, choreographer of Lucia di Lammermoor

In his desire to restore aesthetic and conceptual unity to opera productions, Stefano Poda takes on the jobs of direction, set design, costume design, lightning and choreography. He has directed close to a hundred productions around the globe, including Faust in Turin, Tel Aviv and Lausanne, Thaïs at theTeatro Municipal in Sao Paolo and the Teatro Regio in Turin, Otello at the Budapest Opera Nabucco at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Andrea Chénier and Boris Godounov in South Korea, Leggenda by Alessandro Solbiati premiering at the Teatro Regio and the MITO Festival in 2011, Il trittico at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Maria Stuarda at the Graz Opera, Attila at the St. Gallen Festival in 2013.

He has been invited to direct many opening productions, including Tristan und Isolde for the 77th Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, conducted by Zubin Mehta; La forza del destino for the 2011-2012 season of the Teatro Regio in Parma and the 2014 Verdi Festival; Il Trovatore for the Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2012. His more recent work includes L’elisir d’amore at the Opéra National du Rhin, Fosca by Carlos Gomes at the Teatro Municipal in Sao Paulo and Titan, a choreography of Mahler's Symphonie no I for Sao Paolo's National Dance Company.
