Béatrice Uria Monzon

Béatrice Uria Monzon studied at the Ecole d'Art Lyrique of the Paris Opera. She has appeared on the greatest of the French stages. She sang the parts of Marie de l'Incarnation in Dialogues des Carmélites and the main role of Béatrice et Bénédict in Toulouse, directed by Michel Plasson, as well as at the Opéra de Nancy. She was Charlotte in Werther in several theatres including the Capitole in Toulouse, the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Rome Opera. She made a recording of this part, conducted by Jean-Claude Casadesus with the Lille National Orchestra. She has regularly sung the role of Marguerite in Berlioz’ La damnation de Faust, in particular at the Festival de Bregenz, under Harry Kupfer’s direction, at the Opéra de Cologne, in Leipzig, at the Chorégies d'Orange and at the Théâtre National de l’Opéra de Paris.

Having taken on the role of Carmen for the first time at the Opéra de Paris under the direction of Myung-Whun Chung, she then took to the biggest national and international stages : Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Miami Opera House, Teatro Reggio in Turin, Chorégies d'Orange, Vienna Staatsoper, the Metropolitan Opera in New-York, Houston Opera House, Munich Staatsoper, Teatro Real de Madrid, the Capitole de Toulouse.

Along with many other great parts from the French repertoire, she has sung Dalila at Zürich Opera House, Giulietta in Les contes d'Hoffmann at the Chorégies d'Orange, at the Metropolitan Opera and Milan’s La Scala, Dulcinée in Massenet’s Don Quichotte at the Opéra de Paris, Hérodiade by Massenet at the Esplanade de Saint-Etienne, Queen Gertrude in Hamlet at the Barcelona Liceu.

Béatrice Uria Monzon also interprets the great works of the Italian opera repertoire. After playing Leonora in La Favorita, she took the part of Eboli in Don Carlo at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, the Capitole de Toulouse as well as in Berlin. She also sang Giulietta from the Contes d’Hoffmann at Madrid’s Teatro Real, then took on the part of Didon for the first time in Les Troyens at the Rhine National Opera, as well as the role of Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle at the Opéra National de Paris. She also sang Berlioz’ La mort de Cléopâtre at the Salle Pleyel, sang Venus in Tannhäuser for the first time at the Opéra National de Paris, then at the au Barcelona Liceu, sang Léonore of La Favorita at the Opéra de Montpellier, Carmen at the Chorégies d’Orange then on tour in Japan (production of the Opéra de Lausanne) and in Moscow, Amneris in Aida at the Opéra de Marseille, Adalgisa in Norma at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and Charlotte at the Rhine National Opera.

More recently, she has sung the part of Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana at the Chorégies d’Orange and at the Marseille and Zürich operas, Venus in Tannhäuser at Rome Opera House, Giulietta in the Contes d’Hoffmann at the Opéra de Paris and Carmen at the Liceu.
