Delphine Galou

Bradamante (Alcina)

Debut at Opéra de Lausanne.

Delphine Galou was born in Paris and studied at the same time Philosophy at the Sorbonne University and piano and singing. She has been awarded prizes at numerous singing contests in France. In 2004 she was chosen "Discovery of the Year" by the French Association for the Promotion of Young Artists.

In 2000-01 she became a member of the ensemble of the "Jeunes Voix du Rhin" and performed at the Opéra national du Rhin roles such as Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia), Mercedes (Carmen).

Between 2002 and 2008 she was a guest in Rossini's La pietra del Paragone (title role) in Rennes and Freiburg, Purcell's Dido & Aeneas (Dido) in Rennes, Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges at the Angers Nantes Opera, Eugen Onegin (Olga) at the Dijon Opera, La Périchole (title role) at the Dijon Opera, Haydn's Il mondo della luna in Rennes and Luxembourg, Giulio Cesare (title role) in Caen, A Midsummer Night's Dream (Hermia) in Caen, Toulon and Nancy, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice (Orfeo) in Vienna, Il Giustino (Eufemia) by Giovanni Legrenzi) and Niobe (Nerea) by Agostino Steffani at the Schwetzingen Festival. The last two seasons were highlighted by two most acclaimed productions : Radamisto (Zenobia) at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe and Orlando Furioso by Vivaldi (title role) at the Basel Opera.

In 2010/11 she made her debut at the Royal Opera House London (Niobe by Steffani) and performed The Rape of Lucretia (title role) at Angers Nantes Opera as well as Alcina (Bradamante) at St Gall Opera. Her further plans include Il trionfo del tempo at the Staatsoper Berlin under the baton of Marc Minkowski and Il ritorno d'Ulisse by Monteverdi (Penelope) at the Theater an der Wien under the baton of Christophe Rousset.

Im Konzert Delphine Galou has performed with orchestras such as the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble (Thomas Hengelbrock), I Barocchisti (Diego Fasolis), the Accademia Bizantina (Ottavio Dantone), the Collegium 1704 (Václav Luks), Les Siècles (François-Xavier Roth), Les Arts Florissants (Paul Agnew), Le Concert des Nations (Jordi Savall) and the Ensemble Matheus (Jean-Christophe Spinosi). She is a regular guest at the Beaune Baroque Festival where she was acclaimed in Rinaldo by Handel, Alessandro by Handel, Semiramide by Porpora, Juditha triumphans by Vivaldi and Orlando furioso by Vivaldi.

She has also taken part in the recording of Vivaldi's Teuzzone under the baton of Jordi Savall. CD to be released for the label Naive.
