Marcin Habela

Born in Poland, Marcin Habela graduated from the Paris Conservatory (CNSM) with the First Prize in singing. He then continued his studies at the CNIPAL opera studio before joining the Opéra de Lyon.
Among his repertoire of roles are Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Elviro in Serse, Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri, Dimitrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ford in Falstaff, Marullo in Rigoletto, Lavitsky in Boris Godounov, Montano in Otello, the Wigmaker in Ariadne auf Naxos, Wagner in Faust, and Sharpless in Madama Butterfly. He performs on the biggest stages in France: Théâtre du Châtelet, Cité de la Musique, the operas of Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier and the festivals Les Nuits Musicales de la Sainte-Victoire, Musiques au Cœur d’Antibes and the Arènes d’Avenches. He has also sung Fluth in Die lustigen Weiber, the comte Guy in Le secret de Suzanne and Faust by Schumann and Spohr in various theatres in Germany and Switzerland.
Marcin Habela has also sung lighter roles such as that of Phidias in Phi-Phi at the Opéra de Toulon, or Pristisch in La veuve joyeuse at the Opéra de Lyon. He has sung with internationally renowned conductors, such as Laurent Petitgirard, Steuart Bedford, Emmanuel Krivine, Michelangelo Veltri, Marco Guidarini, Simon Rattle, Christoph Von Dohnanyi, Yvan Fischer, Christian Badea, Lothard Koenigs. Winner of the Mezzo prize, he sang the leading part in Raoul by Kuncze-Kingsley in a world premiere at Bremen Opera in May 2008. Winning the Audience Choice Award in this competition lead to the opportunity to sing Carmina Burana in Hungary with the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra of Pécs.
