Sébastien Guèze

Debut at the Opéra de Lausanne.
The recipient of several honors, Mr. Gueze was a finalist of the Enrico Caruso competition in Milan, Silver Voice (first place in the men’s category) at the Metz Tournament in 2003, First Prize winner of the European of Arles competition in 2004 before being crowned "Revelation Opera singer 2006" by the French Association of Artists (ADAMI). Additionally he received the Audience Prize for the Placido Domingo Operalia Competition, and was named “Revelation of the Year” at the 2009 Victoires de la Musique ceremony.
Sebastien Gueze began the 2010 / 2011 season singing Floreski in Cherubini’s Lodoiska with the Le Cercle de l’Harmonie in performances at the Theatre de Champs Elysees in Paris, the Accadamia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Mr. Gueze also appeared as Rodolfo for his debuts at Opera Royal de Wallonie, the Theatre Royal de La Monnaie and for Finnish National Opera. He returns to the Teatro la Fenice also for La boheme, and will then make his debut at Florida Grand Opera as Christian in Cyrano de Bergerac. Future engagements include a revival of Henri Sauguet’s La Chartreuse de Parme for L’Opera de Marseille, the title role in Faust for L’Opera de Toulon and Nicias in Thais at the Chatelet in Paris.
During the 2009 / 2010 season Sebastien Gueze made his American debut as Alfredo in La traviata for Kentucky Opera and will also appear as Rodolfo in La bohème for Austin Lyric Opera. He also sang the role of Pyrrhus in Andromaque for Le Concert Spirituel in Paris with reprisals during the season at the Schwetzinger Festival, at Opera de Montpellier and at the Staatstheater Nurnberg. He sang Marius in Marius et Fanny at Opera Theatre d’Avignon and made his debut at Polish National Opera as Alfredo. Additionally he will sing Rodolfo for Opera Theatre de St. Etienne.
In recent seasons Gueze has been Rodolfo in La bohème from Greek National Opera, his first Romeo in Romeo et Juliette with the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam opposite Nino Machaidze, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Festival Musiques au Coeur d’Antibes, Salammbô and Mireille for Opera de Marseilles, La Périchole for Opera National de Bordeaux and his first Faust in Pamplona, Spain.
Other highlights of recent seasons include performances in Oji Hall in Tokyo, the French Embassy in Washington D.C., In Belgium for Le Roi d'Ys, in Paris at the Salle Pleyel and the Theater du Châtelet, Theater du Capitole de Toulouse, in Nancy for I pagliacci, in Choregies d'Oranges for Il Trovatore, and in Marseille for the creation of the title role in Marius and Fanny together with world renowned tenor Roberto Alagna. Mr. Gueze also performed at the Festival of Royan before more than 40,000 people.
Sebastien Guèze studied voice in the south of France while simultaneously studying for his Master’s degree in International Business. Once deciding to devote himself exclusively to music he began his studies at the National Conservatory of Paris. Upon completion of his studies at the National Conservatory of Paris, he graduated with the premiere nommé with the “Jury Congratulations.”
