“Death is constantly casting its shadow on the characters of this farce”, wrote Roland Manuel about this opera. Cynical, libertine, blasphemer, liar, at times sincere, Don Giovanni abuses the privileges that come with power. Mozart's music and Ponte's booklet consolidate the myth and give opera its first timeless hero.
