Opéra de Lausanne

Lausanne offers Opera Workshops to children at schools in Lausanne or the Canton de Vaud to introduce them to operatic performances in the company of the characters that bring our theatre to life.

The enthusiasm and wonder of the thousands of children who have visited us has encouraged us to continue this service with the help of the Direction de l'Enfance de la Ville de Lausanne et du Canton de Vaud.

In spite of the closure of the Opéra de Lausanne, young audiences still rule the corridors of the institution. Singers, pianists, make-up artists, wig-makers and technicians are all ready to welcome the children onto the stage of the Opéra for an hour and a half to share their knowledge and their passion with them. We are expecting 1000 children this season.

The children first discover how to raise a curtain, change décor, blow up a storm or operate the lighting of the stage. From theory to practice, the Opéra de Lausanne will reveal itself as they have never seen or imagined it.

The technical aspect of the opera then makes way for the artistic. A singer, pianist, make-up artist and a costume designer take over. The singer talks about vocal techniques. He or she will then be clothed and have their wig and make-up put on. The adventure ends with a 15 minute recital.
