Our cultural outreach programs builds bridges between the Opéra de Lausanne and students in Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud. Thanks to workshops on discovering the stage, its professions, and vocals, children are completely immersed in the world of opera, only to leave amazed by their unique and unforgettable experience.

Initiation to Opera
Welcome to a program for young music lovers from 4 to 6 years old!
Two opera singers have composed a recital tailored to the young ears of our little music lovers. Accompanied by a pianist, they will take them through an anthology of well-known arias from the opera repertoire.
Children will be able to travel for barely an hour. A fantastic story comes to life thanks to singers dressed in costumes, wigs and make-up. A unique and captivating recital!
This recital allows young music lovers to discover the art of opera. Through this compilation of amusing arias, children are introduced to the genre of opera in a playful way. What language are they singing in? Is it a wig or his real hair? One character after another will amaze the little ones with this new sound experience.
If you teach in Lausanne, the recital is part of the Cultural Activities of the City of Lausanne and registration is at the beginning of the school year.

Lyrical Workshops
The Lyrical Workshops are designed for classes in Lausanne and Vaud for children aged 7 to 11 years old.
With a duration of an hour and a half, these school aged children will have the opportunity to encounter the different trades of an Opera : machinist, lighting designer, props designer, make-up artist, wig maker, costume designer, even a singer accompanied by their pianist, as they take the stage of the theatre one after the other to share their knowledge and passions.
Each year, 40 classes participate in this activity. If you teach in Lausanne, the Lyrical Workshop is part of the Cultural Activities of the City of Lausanne and registration is at the beginning of the school year. If you teach elsewhere in the canton of Vaud, please contact the Cultural Mediation Department in the spring for a workshop the following year.

Guided tours of the Opéra organised for students
A unique opportunity for these young listeners to discover behind-the-scenes and the secrets of an opera house! Explore the theatre from top to bottom: from the hall to the backstage, from the dressing rooms to the orchestra pit, including a tour of the production control room.

Pedagogical Program - École-Musée
Created in December 2013 with the École-Musée structure of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Canton of Vaud, this pedagogical program for teachers contains many pedagogical resources that will help to introduce students to this little-known universe and prepare them for an opera performance.
