The Lausanne Opera is pleased to present a recital by the young British baritone Huw Montague Rendall, who has been acclaimed on the world’s greatest stages, from Vienna to Chicago, from Aix-en-Provence to Madrid… A graduate of the Royal College of Music in London, Huw Montague Rendall is one of the most prominent singers of his generation.
At thirty-one years old, he is pursuing a career in the footsteps of his famous parents, mezzo-soprano Diana Montague and tenor David Rendall. Since his debut, Mozart’s operas have offered him his favorite roles, as he is drawn to the composer’s human genius: Papageno (The Magic Flute), Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte), and Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro).
Acclaimed worldwide by audiences and critics alike for his memorable portrayal of the title role in Pelléas et Mélisande, his elegant and luminous timbre, as well as his impeccable French, work wonders. His debut album, Contemplation (Erato, 2024), won the 2025 Classical Music Awards in the “Voice and Ensemble” category . In 2024, he was named Best Emerging Artist at the Oper! Awards.
In Lausanne, he will showcase another facet of his impressive musical intelligence, blending intensity with subtlety; we will be able to appreciate his remarkable diction and great sensitivity in the German and English repertoire. He will be accompanied by Carrie-Ann Matheson, a favored collaborator of today’s greatest opera artists.
