Everyone knows the story of Cinderella, known as Cenerentola in Italian…

In Rossini’s version, Prince Ramiro and his footman Dandini swap identities to test the sincerity of their suitresses. A ball is organised and Cinderella’s half-sisters are determined to make the most of this opportunity. With the help of the prince’s preceptor Alidoro, Cinderella is also able to attend. Dazzled by her beauty and constancy, the prince wants to marry her on the spot. As for Cinderella, she prefers to put the prince’s feelings to the test…Don’t worry though: with the help of luck, they find each other, get married and Cinderella is magnanimous.
