David Reiland became the new artistic and musical director of the Lausanne Sinfonietta in 2017. As a conductor, he is highly appreciated for his artistic maturity, his ease in the symphonic and opera repertoires, his commitment to musicians and the way he works with them. He was recently appointed musical director of the Orchestre national de Lorraine in Metz and is the first guest conductor and artistic advisor at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne.
He was the chief conductor of the contemporary ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin (from 2009 to 2017) and the musical and artistic advisor of the Orchestre du Luxembourg (from 2013 to 2017). Assistant conductor at the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in London (from 2012 to 2015), he worked with Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Mark Elder and Sir Roger Norrington. He won over the press and audiences alike with Mitridate, La clemenza di Tito and Die Zauberflöte and directed the world premieres of Iliade l’Amour by Betsy Jolas and The Raven by Toshio Hosokawa, presented at the Concertgebouw.
Projects in 2018: the world recreation of Cinq-Mars by Gounod at the Leipzig Opera, Les pêcheurs de perles by Bizet at the Flanders Opera and Così fan tutte at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
